Let's just Throw the Constitution Away

On Fox News' website there was an article in the politics section called Obama's Push for Copenhagen Deal Could Violate Constitution, Critics Say. It's about how President Obama may sign an agreement at the Copenhagen Climate Summit without the consent or officialism of the U.S. Congress. Many critics are against this because it would mean that Obama would be able to sign something that the U.S. would have to follow but didn't actually get a chance to vote for through their state representatives in Congress.
Obama, who is even told by democrats with similar views not to do this, might go through the EPA and not Congress to sign a treaty to bind the U.S. to a cap of CO² emissions. But, as the Republican House Speaker states, "President Obama cannot bind the American people to job killing international agreements on climate change without the advice and consent of the United States Senate..." He says this because the U.S. has checks and balances in our Republican system of government that makes it so that one branch of the government, such as the Exacutive Branch, cannot just go off signing a bill. Which would make it law, but they cannot because he needs the consent of the people, which is given through state representatives in Congress.
Our Executive Branch going through something else besides Congress to sign something is a complete and utter violation of my rights, and more importantly our rights. The Constitution was created by some very amazing people, some very Godly people. God would not have let it be created and followed so closely by believers in him if He didn't believe in its truth. Don't get me wrong, the Bible is the truth but I believe that the Constitution was sent forth by The most high one, through people that God chose and to break it and cut corners is wrong, and against you as an American and a human.
To explain this article to someone would be me saying to you that the President of the United States is breaking the country's founding backbone, the Constitution and Declaration of Independence, just to sign something that has been proven to be wrong and falsified over and over again.
"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
The best of our President's ability would be to not sign that treaty.

Stay tuned for my next post coming about the fall through in Copenhagen...

  1. The constitution was written hundereds of years ago when things like slavery were still being practiced. We live in a modern era and as such we need a modern set of laws. Capitalism is destroying our planet and our economy. If you are going to be writing posts like this you really need to look at sides other than Fox, because even you know how much they twist the facts.

  2. OK Anonymous, let's say that the Constitution is out dated. What then? Should we also throw away one of the biggest rights of them all because it is out dated? Yeah, I'm talking about freedom of speech. Let's throw it away, OK there, it's gone. So this blog no longer exists as well as every internet site out there. You are not free to practice any beliefs without consent of the government. You no longer have the "natural rights" to life, liberty, and the property as laid out in the Constitution of the USA. Therefore you have no right to live and no right to not be abused, which is the right to life. Now with the right to liberty you may no longer move freely, you may no longer assemble peaceably, you may no longer communicate with the world, and it goes on. The right to property, if this wasn't a right as it is in the Constitution you would not be able to own a private residence from which others may be excluded, you wouldn't have physical tools needed to live life, or personal property in which you can deny someones use of, and arms suitable for your defense and for the defense of your family.
Now that you no longer have natural born rights "ordained to you by God" you can be killed and no one would do anything about it, you can no longer live in a house and deny entry to anyone, (Such as the government) and you may not say or do anything against anyone, (Such as the government) because you can now be killed on the spot LEGALLY, with no charges brought upon the murderer.
May you have forgotten or the rights that are in the "outdated" Constitution of the United States?

And let me tell you something, Capitalism is what lets you live in the modern world and be able to own something like a Hot Pocket and a microwave to warm it without spending a fortune. The thing that you also used to put up your post called a computer is also available cheap these days because of Capitalism. If Capitalism did not exist you could say goodbye to everything you owned and your comfy living style and say hello to a socialist and communist world, that controlled everything and made it so that everything you could bye costs thousands of dollars more because Capitalism was not in place. Better start making some socks because they may cost a small fortune instead of $5 when you live in this non-Capitalist world.

And no, Fox news does not twist stuff like you say they do. Sure, there are those on Fox who I don't really believe sometimes, but I will not ever and have not ever trusted a news crew on NBC, ABC, and every other Television station. Plus, who's to say your news stations don't twist the truth? You? Well isn't that wrong that you are right and I am wrong because YOU say so? (And yes, all those stations and the TV that you watch them on are available for cheap because of the oh so evil Capitalism.)

  3. Changing the constitution doesn't mean the loss of the rights you talked about. Those are the correct parts of the Constitution, except the right to arms part. We have already amended the constitution successfully there is nothing to say that couldn't be taken further in order to create an entirely new, and yes, modern set of laws.

I have to agree and say that capitalism is what let this country grow and innovate so fast but that period is over. The world is becoming over-populated, simple things in life have become over-commercialized to a point where unnecessary resources are put towards convenience. Many of the "free market" has already become socialized: public power monopolies, municipal water facilities, FCC regulated broadcast mediums, FDA regulated drugs, US Department of Agriculture regulated food, EPA regulated cars and building, and a National Postal Service. All of these socialist services have arguably created a better America.

My point isn't to create a communist country where every last thing is regulated by the government, with our government's track record that would be the opposite of what I want (that includes Obama). My point is to create a more dynamic set of laws that are able to change with the market, new technologies and new ideas. There needs to be a balance between a totally free market and communism.

About the FOX thing, as a whole FOX isn't bad but there are some influential people that broadcast on fox, mainly the political side, that blatantly lie. I can direct you to YouTube clips of news casts though I am guessing you probably have seen a few. And yes the entirety of the media isn't to be trusted 100% but there are more "Fair and Balanced" sources.

  4. I agree with several points made by each of you. In regard to the adherence to any set of beliefs, whether it be to a Constitution, the Bible, or Rules & Regulations for baseball, man's nature is to want to adapt the rules to fit what s/he determine as societal or cultural "progress". This would suggest that these "playbooks" are somehow incomplete or imperfect.

With exception to the "inspired Word of God" that the bible is described as, many man-made documents must be open to adaptation in light of certain acceptable cultural and technological developments. It makes sense that the Constitution would be open to amendment, however, if you believe the Constitution, by design, is a God-inspired document, there lies the problem. Many people adhere so vigorously to the Constitution because they believe that God opened a path to freedom and liberty when much of the world was in war and despair, such was the new world and what it represented.

It still represents that today and the Constitution has been like the walls of a channel funneling the dream of freedom through the years. It hasn't been without incident or failings but has attracted millions of immigrants for the very certain hope of a free life. Individual freedoms and protections are at the heart of the constitution and the very pursuit of liberty described are at the heart of those who protect and defend it. When the modifications appear to be in violation of preserving those freedoms, one could become unsettled at the attacks on the Constitution.

    Regarding Fox News:

The major media (ABC, CNN, NBC, etc) outlets reported throughout the election that 45 million people were uninsured in America. Fox reported that it was closer to 30 million. Last week Congress discussed the reality that the number was 31 million.

Throughout the last month, jobless projections were broadly reported by the same media outlets as 20,000 jobs lost every day. Fox News reported it as less than 10,000---while still horrible, half of the others' "facts". FactCheck.org reported this week (in the Oregonian) that the number was actually 8,000 jobs lost daily.

That's two examples that are weighing favorably; there are hundreds. How about Acorn? How about background checks for White House officials? A person could go on and on. Are the Woodward and Bernsteins only after Conservatives or Republicans?

The ONLY place where there is journalistic integrity and intellectual honesty at present is Fox News. Most of the others, with a few exceptions, have a hand out to the next favor paid out by this Administration and their obsession with power.

Interestingly enough, exactly the same as the claims made against Bush and Cheney.

Thank goodness for Fox News or we would not get an alternate view---simply Matt Lauer, Wolf Blitzer, and Katie Couric promoting their vote for the left.

  5. @Chris, this is where the final difference lies. Your beliefs are rooted in the bible and mine are just the opposite. In a perfect world there would be no christians (or any religions at all), there would be no greedy people, there would be no capitalism and there would be madatory abortion but we don't live in a perfect world and we live in a far from perfect country.

  6. Anonymous: Thanks for your remarks. I differ on this as well as my belief that in a perfect world, individuals would see the remarkable good things that emanate from the church---hospitals, schools, and outreach to mankind that is profoundly rooted in the belief in Jesus' love. Man has a way of tainting perfection. And the examples of Godless societies are in more ruin than those based in Faith.

Mandatory abortion. That kind of says it all, sadly. But thank you for the dialog.

  7. Has the author considered the difference between administrative duties of the President and policy changing decisions that would affect every individuals right in the country? Should the President have to hold a vote on every decision? At what point does this become unmanageable? Do you know exactley the effect of Obama signing the agreement (and which version of it)would have on your personal rights?

As for the discussion of the creation of the Constitution, does it matter? It is there, it contains protocols, it is the interpretation of these that hold the meat of the argument surely?
